Who we are
Founded in 2015, Eat New Zealand exists to reconnect people, plate and place - championing the farmers, fishers, producers and communities who nourish Aotearoa and the world.
We believe food is more than a commodity; it is culture, identity, economy and kaitiakitanga in action. By backing local supply chains, elevating regional stories and advocating for a thriving domestic food system alongside our export success, we are building a food future that is fairer, more resilient and distinctly of this land.
Join us in growing a nation that values good food - not just for profit, but for people and planet.
We deliver the annual Eat NZ Hui; a national gathering for the most important food conversation in Aotearoa, the Eat NZ Kaitaki; a collective of next-generation food leaders, The NZ Grown Grains Mark; working alongside FAR to grow our local grain economy, The Eat NZ Food For Good Programme; a national framework for values-led food procurement in New Zealand and The Shortest Meal; a nationwide campaign on the shortest day of the year (and World Localisation Day) to encourage everyone to sit down to an NZ grown meal. We also delivered Feast Matariki; a uniquely Aotearoa food celebration involving a series of kai events across the motu.
