The Shortest Meal

Choosing NZ grown food has never been more important. The downstream effect of this simple decision means manufacturing, jobs and diverse farming systems stay in Aotearoa.
Without this we risk our food security, but also our right to eat our own food. We’re drawing a line in the sand, and we need your help.
On Sunday 21st June, the shortest day of the year, and World Localisation Day, we’re asking everyone to have a New Zealand grown meal. It doesn’t have to be perfect, expensive or complicated. It could be as simple as making sure your bowl of porridge is made from NZ grown oats, or that you find bread that is grown from NZ wheat. Perhaps you source NZ grown pork from a butcher for this meal, or turn over the pack of frozen vegetables to find the brand that is grown here and supports our farmers.
It's open to every home cook, café, bakery, and restaurant in the country.
One day. One meal. That’s how we start to make a difference. Join us! Start thinking about what you'd like to make and register your Shortest Meal here.
