Visa Wellington On a Plate (Visa WOAP) serves up the ultimate feast of food, drink, creativity and culture. People come together to experiment, explore, taste, create and be entertained with delectable menus, mouth-watering events, clever cocktail creations, a meaty burger battle and a celebration of Wellington's artisan food and drink producers.
Showcasing the best of Wellington culinary and hospitality from farm to plate through events, special menu offerings, chef collaborations and industry promotions. Visa WOAP is the largest festival of its kind in New Zealand and in 2019 will extend from 17 to 31 days. This change will also see Burger Wellington separating from Dine, with the first two weeks dedicated to Dine, the middle weekend will be Beervana, followed by two weeks of Burger Wellington. Cocktail Wellington and Festival events will run for the whole month.
This isn't your typical food festival. For the month of August, Wellington's restaurants, venues, laneways and carparks are host to wild celebrations of food and beverage, warming up winter with food-filled fun.
The festival offers the opportunity for the food community to work together - from local suppliers and producers, to chefs collaborating with fellow foodies, this is a chance for foodies to go crazy with creative, limited-time Dine Wellington set menus and festival dishes, burgers, cocktails, culinary events and pop-ups - which are curated into a tasty programme, marketed to locals, nationwide and abroad.
