Top Catch Charters – Kaikoura was established in 2018 by Malcolm Halstead. Malcolm has 35 years experience in fishing around the South Island of New Zealand. As a sustainable charter fishing business, the philosophy of the business is to teach customers how to catch enough fish for a couple of good meals while looking after the resource for future generations.

Our main focus is running friendly, small groups fishing charters of up to six passengers with a particular passion for taking family groups on private charters, along with our regular fishing trips, we also offer Girls Only Fishing Trips, which includes a bottle of bubbles to take home and enjoy with your catch!

On every trip you will be taught how to catch fish using fishing rods and reels that we supply. Your catch will be ethically despatched then prepared for you to take home to enjoy. We offer a choice of either filleting your catch or preparing whole fish for that extra culinary wow factor. Another option is for you to take your catch to one of several local eateries in Kaikoura and have it cooked for you. Included in every trip is the checking of a craypot, learning about the species and if successful then you are welcome to take some delicious crayfish home as well.
